Rockstar Community Fund, an Awesome Project!

“Shin,” of Money is not Taboo

There’s a bunch of us blogging about money.

How to save it. How to invest it. Reducing debt. Budgeting. Responsibly using credit cards. Hacking credit cards. On and on.

Now, with J. Money, Nate St. Pierre, and Melanie Lockert in the lead, a number of bloggers who are not only talking about money but also giving some to folks that need it.

There’s actually three components to the project.

#1. The Giving Cards Project: The Flagship of the Rockstar Community Fund – $20.00 Visa gift cards are distributed to folks who will give them to folks that could use a financial boost. Contributors donate money to fund the purchase of the cards. It’s a way that money folks are giving back and helping those in need. Many contributors have been in financial dire straights themselves, so they know what an extra $20.00 can do.

#2. Debt Drop: Led, and inspired, by Melanie Lockert of DearDebt.com. – Melanie was one of those folks in financial dire straights some years back, ending up on food stamps after earning two degrees and about $81,000 in student debt. Devastated, Melanie decided enough was enough and worked her butt off until she got back on her feet. She’s now doing very well and decided to give back to a regular follower of her blog, who is in a similar boat to what Melanie was in. J. Money and Nate St. Pierre decided that Melanie had a great idea, so now all three have joined forces with Debt Drop.

#3. Just In Time Giving: Every month some money is set aside, to quickly be used to help out in the event of an unforeseen situation in our community, like an illness, injury, sudden loss, or any other unexpected life event that needs immediate attention. Another worthy project.

I don’t know about y’all, but I think that this is awesome. J. Money, Nate St. Pierre, Melanie Lockert, and all those contributing funds should be applauded for their willingness to help others. I know that their kindness is appreciated.

If you want to learn more, and maybe even participate, jump on over to the Rockstar Community Fund page and check it out.

I’m sure you’ll be impressed.

I know I am.

Oh, don’t just check out the Rockstar Community Fund, contribute, if you can.

Until next time, Peace!

Shin
